Anna Mary Timberlake

Anna Mary Cooper Timberlake, daughter of Andrew Daniel Cooper and Ruby Irene Phillips, was born February 12, 1946 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Anna was one of four children - one sister Dona Mae and two brothers Richard and Floyd. On the morning of November 11, 2025, Anna was called home by her Savior as her daughters stood lovingly by her side.

Anna Mary Cooper married Billy Lee Timberlake on April 4, 1969, in Ennis, Texas. Anna is preceded in death by her parents, her soulmate of over 55 years, Billy, and her brother, Richard. She is survived by her two daughters: Ruby Hecox and husband Kevin of Schertz, Texas; Amy Jannot and husband Andrew of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. She also leaves behind four treasured grandchildren: Dr. Emily Hecox and husband Kenny Roller of Jackson, Mississippi; Dr. Holly Hecox and husband Jonathan Lang of Marion, Texas; Ethan Jannot and Wyatt Jannot of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; one precious great-granddaughter, Kacie Maeve Lang; and one great-grandson arriving in March.

Anna graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1963, and despite the heartbreak of losing her mother at just 19, she remained determined to continue her education. She would go on to receive her Bachelor's of Arts Degree from Stephen F. Austin University in 1967 fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher.

Anna began teaching at only 20 years old in 1966. Her early career included two years in Mt. Enterprise ISD, one year in Ennis, Texas and one year in Decatur, Texas before she found her long-term home in the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD. There she taught 31 years at O'Henry/ Corbett Jr. High, retiring in 2003 after more than 35 years in the classroom. Anna taught English, Language Arts, Reading, Speech and Drama, and Journalism. Throughout her career, she received numerous honors, including The Yellow Rose of Texas Education Award and Teacher of the Year. Yet the recognition she cherished most came in the form of letters, visits, and heartfelt messages from former students who thanked her for her firm, patient, and caring guidance.

Anna was known for her eloquence, quick wit, and warm sense of humor. She was often asked to speak at a wide variety of events - from retirement celebrations and Mother-Daughter banquets to birthday gatherings, award ceremonies, and even eulogies and roasts. She brought the same grace, energy, and clarity to every occasion.

Anna will be remembered as a faithful and devoted wife, loving and selfless mother, a proud and doting grandmother, a loyal friend, a dedicated and patient educator, and a cherished Child of God.

A life-long Christian, Anna was christened in a Catholic church and raised in the Baptist tradition. Anna and Billy joined the Schertz United Methodist Church in 1971 and remained faithful and active members, raising their family in faith and serving the church in many ways over the years.

In her later years, Anna fought through chronic pain while continuing to care for and support Billy until God called him home. Her family finds great comfort in believing that God, in His mercy, called her to join him only a few short months later, reunited with her true love and held together again in His eternal embrace. While she will be deeply missed and fiercely remembered here on earth, her family and friends rejoice in knowing she has fought her final war with pain and now rests in perfect peace.
