Amber Franklin

Amber Franklin passed away on February 7, 2023, finally free from the Dystonia that had ravaged her body for the past 12 years. She had recently celebrated her 22nd birthday.

Amber was born on January 18, 2001, in South Korea. She was adopted and joined her parents 2 brothers and a sister in Fishers IN. She has also lived in St. Augustine, FL and San Antonio/Cibolo, TX.

Amber’s laughter and joking personality was an inspiration to everyone around her. Despite all the pain that she was in, she loved life and always had a smile on her face. She loved her dogs, her family, and especially her friends at MacArthur High School and on the school bus. Even though she was fed through a feeding tube and could not eat much by mouth, she loved food. The first thing she asked every morning was “what was for dinner”. She knew she wanted either 3 hot dogs, 2 cheeseburgers, 5 pieces of pizza, or A LOT of anything else we were going to eat.

Some of Amber’s favorite things were shopping, pretty clothes, jewelry, Peppa Pig, anything Disney, The Fresh Beat Band, and any kind of party. She enjoyed music, swimming, and playing games.

Amber was predeceased by her Maternal grandparents Richard and Elvern Neubauer, Paternal grandfather James Franklin, her uncle Tom Neubauer, uncle Howie, and her big brother Jason Franklin. She is survived by her mother Cathy Neubauer, father Jay Franklin and Gigi, her brother Nick, and sister Mandy Rueda and David, her nephew Zaelyn, grandmother Shirley Franklin, along with many other extended family members. Special thank you to her nurse Amanda, her teachers and nurses at MacArthur as well as the people on bus 315.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday February 18, 2023, 1:00 at Cross of Christ Lutheran church, 1530 Kitty Hawk, San Antonio 78148. A meal provided by the church will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Amber’s name to The Dystonia Medical Research Foundation.
