Alonzo Briones, Jr.

Alonzo Briones Jr. passed away peacefully with his wife and children at his side on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the age of 55. He was born to Alonzo and Mary Jane Briones on March 15, 1953 in San Antonio, Texas. Living in Kenedy, Texas most of his school age years he also resided in Oklahoma, Korea, and Germany while in military service to his country. He and his wife, Betty started their family in Dallas, Texas and have resided in San Antonio since 1992. Alonzo devoted his life to his church, family, country, and community. Alonzo served in the U.S. Army, worked and owned a landscaping business, and was a 2002 U.S. Civil Service retiree. Alonzo was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a one of a kind man whose generosity, kindness, loyalty and most of all love will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched. Alonzos kind and gentle spirit and the sincerity of his love of family and friends profoundly impacted all the people he met, from the youngest to the oldest. His wife and children will keep him in their hearts forever. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Betty (Garcia) Briones; son Justin Ryan Briones; daughter Lauren Ashley Briones; sisters Sylvia Briones; Kathy Morales (Jimmy); Patsy Rodriguez (Carlos); Delia Medrano; Ofelia Bryan; brothers Raymond Herrera; Alex Briones; Albert (Maribel) Briones; Alvin (Francis) Briones; aunt and uncle John and Susie Ornelas; father-in-law Taurino Garcia and his family; numerous special nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 PM, Sunday, April 27 at the Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz. The rosary service will be recited at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 28, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Selma, Texas. Interment will follow at the Karnes City Cemetery at 3:00 PM. The Briones Family would like to thank Samaritan Hospice Cares doctor, nurses and staff, Dr. Harrison Yoo, Dr. Jayasree Rao, and Dr. Amy Benson for their guidance and support.
