Obituary

Alfred “Butch” Nyman, Jr, beloved husband, father, brother and Papa, drew his last breath August 6, 2021 in San Antonio, TX at the age of 66. Butch was born January 2, 1955 in Bourne, MA.

Butch is preceded in death by his father, Alfred Nyman, mother, Madeline Nyman, and sisters Nancy Jolly & Cindy Hite.

He is survived by his wife Nina Nyman; children, Kristine Brooks & husband Stanley Cuffee, Shawn Nyman, Kevin Nyman & wife Crystal, Madeline Constante & husband Roberto; and grandchildren Alexander Nyman, Kylea Nyman, Hunter Nyman, Levi Nyman, Brooke Nyman, Carrington Constante, Memphis Constante, Jacob Cuffee & soon to be Patricia Cuffee. Butch also has two surviving sisters, Madeline Finnigan and Jane Tomey & husband Lloyd; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Growing up, Butch enjoyed riding with South Texas Trail Drive. He also participated in bronco horse riding, for which he received competition belt buckles. Butch enlisted in the United States Army in 1973 as a Power Generator Operator/ Mechanic. He completed one overseas tour in Nuremberg, Germany, where he also competed in Bronco riding. Upon his return from overseas he became a Diesel Engine Mechanic and was stationed at Fort Bliss, TX until his Honorable discharge in 1978. While on active-duty orders, he received the National Defense Service Medal and Rifle-Expert. Following his discharge, he moved back to San Antonio, TX and later decided to join the US Army Reserves (USAR) in 1980 until he retired as a Staff Sergeant (SSG) in 1997. While in the USAR he traveled to Honduras to help build an airfield.
Butch became an Electrician in the 1980’s and has been highly looked upon in his trade, even Master Electricians would call on him for help. He enjoyed fishing, camping and had a love for deer & dove hunting. He enjoyed watching older country/western or military related movies. Throughout Butch’s life, he was a social butterfly and enjoyed being around people that he loved. He was a very amiable person and dearly loved by his family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Schertz Funeral Home chapel.

Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 19, 2021, 9:00am at the Schertz Funeral Home chapel with the interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Following the funeral service, a reception and celebration of life will be located at 700 Zuehl Crossing, La Vernia, TX 78121
