Alexander Hale

June 19, 1976 — January 11, 2021

Alexander “Alex” Clayton Hale, born on June 19, 1976 in Wichita, Kansas, passed away in San Antonio, Texas on January 11, 2021 at the age of 44. Alex was apart of the Belleville West High School graduating class of 1994 in Belleville Illinois, where he played football and was apart of the schools' wrestling team. Immediately after graduating high school, Alex enlisted in the US Army where he served from 1994 to 2000. During his service, he served in 3 rd Battalion, 82 nd Field Artillery (known as the Red Dragons) and was deployed overseas in Bosnia and Yugoslavia where he served on various missions. Once home, Alex pursued college at Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos, Texas. After a few semesters he decided college was not for him and started his career in hospitality. Alex started working at Alamo Café, a Tex Mex legend in San Antonio, where his hard work and caring for others lead to a 20-year career, working several positions and always willing to help where he was needed. He was a member of the American Legion 667 and the VFW post 8315, where he served as an officer at the VFW, helping with fundraisers, parades, and post activities. Alex was an avid music lover and attended many music festivals and concerts with family and friends. In his spare time Alex enjoyed hunting; often deer hunting with CW Reese and attending VFW turkey shoots with his family. He also enjoyed going to sporting events such as football, baseball, and hockey games.  Alex was a private person, but he proudly displayed his love and devotion to his family for all to see. He enjoyed watching and being a part of his nephew and niece’s life as they were growing up, and he was always eager and able to help his family when they needed him. Many people that knew Alex would describe him as a gentle soul and determined, when he wanted to something or when his heart was set on something, Alex would do whatever it took to achieve it; and he would express that same determination and passion for his family.

Alex is survived by his Father, Don Hale and stepmom Nancy; stepfather, CW Reese; brother, Jeffrey Hale and wife Amanda Hale; sister, Megan Nooney and husband Michael Nooney; stepbrother, Jimmy Johnson, stepsister, Marshann Stanley, Debbie Roll, Sheila Elliott, Cathy Meloccaro and husband Gary; nephew, Justen; nieces, Emma, Jessie, Brittney, Brandy and Bridget.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Reese; grandparents, John Calvin Bocox and Martha Lela Bocox (Jones) and Jefferson T. Hale Sr. & Flora Lee Hale (Hagar).
