Avelino Villanueva Gonzales Jr.

Avelino V. Gonzales Jr., was born to Avelino Gonzales Sr., and Guadalupe Villanueva Gonzales on September 7, 1952. He passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024 at the age of 71 surrounded by his family. He was born in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Samuel Clemens High School.  Shortly after he graduated he joined the United States Army in 1975 and retired in 1995 with many medals and loved to see the world while in the military. While serving in the military, his job was a chef, he loved cooking and the holidays were special because of his love of cooking.

In 1969, he married his wife, Mary Jane Barrientez Gonzales, where they were happily married for 54 years and they had two sons; Avelino Gonzales III- wife Irene Rodriguez, and David Gonzales-  wife Martha Gonzales, and four grandchildren; Avelino Gonzales IV- wife- Morgan Gonzales, Brianna Ray Campos, Steven Ray Campos Jr., and Clarissa R. Castillo. He has 7 brothers and sisters; brother Raymond Gonzales- wife Mary Alice Gonzales, sister Mary O' Brien- husband Carlos O' Brien, sister Amelia Contreras- husband Liandro Contreras, brother Joe Gonzales- wife Stephanie Gonzales, brother Jesse Gonzales- wife Lydia Gonzales, sister Rachel Mosqueda- husband Teddy Mosqueda, brother Robert Gonzales, wife Iva Gonzales.  And preceded in death by his parents Avelino and Guadalupe Gonzales Sr, brother Mike Gonzales, Evangelina G. Perez, brother Benny Gonzales, brother Johnny Gonzales. And his loving pets who he adored and loved; Midnight, Rusty, Angel, Chiquita, Sabbath, Ben, Pepe and Augie Boy.

He had numerous nieces and nephews, and several Godchildren. His hobbies were spending time with his family, he enjoyed watching sports, camping, fishing, dancing, and enjoyed the outdoors. He lived a wonderful active life, and he will be greatly missed by many who loved him.
